1,362 NCC Cadets Take ‘C’ Certificate Exam in Visakhapatnam

A total of 1,362 cadets from the Senior Division and Senior Wing of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) appeared for the prestigious ‘C’ Certificate Examination held at Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College here on Sunday.

Organised under the aegis of the NCC Group Headquarters, Visakhapatnam, the examination drew cadets from various colleges across the region, marking one of the largest turnouts in recent years, officials said.

The ‘C’ Certificate examination is regarded as the highest qualification in the NCC training framework and signifies the successful completion of three years of intensive training. The programme aims to shape cadets into disciplined and responsible citizens while fostering leadership, teamwork, and a spirit of selfless service.

Cadets were evaluated through a combination of practical and written tests designed to assess their overall competence. The practical components included drill movements, weapon handling, map reading, field craft, and battle craft, while the theoretical segment tested their understanding of military subjects, national integration, and organisational knowledge.

NCC officials noted that the examination process was conducted smoothly, with detailed arrangements made to ensure fairness and transparency. Adequate supervision, logistical support, and safety measures were put in place throughout the day.

Commodore Sumanta Roy, Group Commander of the NCC Group Headquarters, Visakhapatnam, visited the venue and inspected the conduct of the examination. He interacted with officers and staff, reviewing the evaluation procedures and facilities provided to cadets.

Speaking on the occasion, an NCC official said, “The enthusiastic participation reflects the growing inclination among youth towards discipline and national service. The ‘C’ Certificate plays a crucial role in opening career opportunities, particularly in the Armed Forces, paramilitary, and other uniformed services.”

Cadets who qualify for the certification gain significant advantages, including preference during defence recruitment processes, additional marks in certain competitive examinations, and enhanced prospects for leadership roles.

Officials added that the NCC continues to witness rising enrolment in Visakhapatnam and neighbouring districts, highlighting sustained interest among students in structured training, adventure activities, and community service initiatives.
