24-Hour Parcel Booking at Visakhapatnam HPO

The Visakhapatnam Head Post Office (HPO) has introduced 24-hour Speed Post and parcel booking services on all working days, with effect from February 11.

Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Visakhapatnam, N.V.S.N. Raju said the initiative was designed to improve accessibility and offer greater flexibility to customers. “With this facility, customers can book their Speed Post articles and parcels at any time of the day or night on working days,” he said.

The HPO has also begun providing packaging materials on the premises. Customers can bring items for dispatch even without cardboard boxes, as suitable packing materials required for safe transmission are available at the counter.

The move has received a positive response from the public. A small business owner in Dwaraka Nagar said the extended hours would help entrepreneurs meet urgent delivery timelines. “Deadlines do not always fit within office hours. This gives us breathing space,” he said.

A university student welcomed the decision, noting that it would be particularly useful during examination and admission seasons. “Students often need to send documents at short notice. Late-night booking is a big relief,” she said.

Postal authorities said the step was part of ongoing efforts to enhance customer convenience and streamline services for residents of Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas. The Department of Posts has encouraged the public to make use of the facility.
