49th AOMSI Annual Conference Kicks Off in Visakhapatnam

Dr. Rayapati Shailaja, Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission, said the growing international recognition of Indian oral and maxillofacial surgeons shows the country’s rising scientific strength.

She inaugurated the 49th annual conference of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) on Thursday. In her address, she spoke about the role of modern technology, research and skill development in improving complex surgeries and patient care. She called for stronger support and guidance for women in specialised medical fields and said the Women’s Commission will continue to promote programmes that help women doctors take leadership roles in healthcare.

AOMSI Organizing Chairman Dr. L. Krishna Prasad outlined the conference plans. He said the sessions will cover new developments in oral and maxillofacial surgery, updates in clinical research, surgical methods and new medical technologies such as digital planning tools and minimally invasive procedures. He said the event aims to improve professional cooperation and keep surgeons aligned with global standards.

The programme brought together medical experts, delegates and students, showing the growing interest in the field. Scientific abstracts from the conference will be published in a PubMed-indexed journal.

The three-day event will serve as a platform for learning and networking for oral and maxillofacial surgeons from across the country.
