99 AP products under ODOP
The Union government has identified 99 products from Andhra Pradesh under its flagship “One District One Product” (ODOP) programme to promote indigenous goods and strengthen rural livelihoods.
The issue came up in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, when Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy sought details on product identification and funding support.
In response, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said the initiative identifies a signature product for each district and promotes it through branding, marketing, and value addition. As a result, local artisans gain better market access.
Officials said the 99 products cover all 26 districts of the State. In SPSR Nellore, authorities have focused on Paturu cotton and silk saris and Udayagiri wooden artefacts. Notably, Paturu saris generated ₹52.5 crore in turnover over the past five years and supported nearly 2,850 livelihoods.
Meanwhile, the Centre has sanctioned 18 mobile towers to improve connectivity in remote areas of the district. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy, who also heads the Nellore Telecom Advisory Committee, identified villages that lacked network access. Consequently, officials prioritised these locations.
Further, Minister of State for Communications Pemmasani Chandrasekhar has directed officials to complete the installations by December 2026. The towers will come up in Atmakur, Kovur, Kandukur, Kavali, and Udayagiri Assembly segments.
