Competition Intensifies for Vacant Office Floor at VMRDA’s The Deck
The race is on for the only vacant office floor at The Deck, the multi-level commercial and parking complex developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Development Authority (VMRDA) at Siripuram Junction.
With just one floor available, several major companies have expressed interest. Industry leaders in the fray include ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel Limited, which is setting up a steel plant at Nakkapalli, Bengaluru-based IT firm Covalance, and a leading pharmaceutical company.
In response to the strong demand, VMRDA has announced an open auction on September 19. The floor will be allotted to the highest bidder who meets all stipulated conditions. Applications must be submitted by September 18, with details available on the VMRDA website.
The 12-storey complex comprises three basements, a ground floor, seven upper floors, and a terrace. Several prominent tenants are already in place. The University of Georgia occupies the third floor and its attached deck, while Bell has leased the fourth floor for its IT office. The Ratan Tata Innovation Hub operates from the fifth floor, and the sixth and seventh floors house the office of the South Coast Railway Zone General Manager.
Parking for 440 cars and 250 two-wheelers is available in the basements and on the second floor. The ground floor, measuring 28,993 sq. m., remains unoccupied. Meanwhile, the terrace above the seventh floor is being considered for a restaurant.
The lone available office floor has emerged as prime real estate, attracting companies looking to establish or expand their presence in Visakhapatnam. VMRDA officials said the auction would ensure a transparent and competitive allotment process, with the final decision to be announced on September 19.
