Odisha Governor hails AMTZ for growth, self-reliance in medical technology

Odisha Governor Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu praised the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) for its remarkable growth over seven years. He also highlighted its pivotal role in making India self-reliant in medical technology.

Reflecting on his long association with the Zone, he said, “When I was present at the foundation of MedTech Zone in 2016, it was just the beginning of a dream. Today, after nine years, I am thrilled, surprised, and deeply happy to see the phenomenal growth this Zone has achieved. Therefore, Atmanirbharta in medical devices has become a reality here in Visakhapatnam. The process of self-reliance began in this city in 2016, and today AMTZ inspires by showing how imported machines can be replaced with indigenous ones under the leadership of Dr. Jitendra Sharma.”

During his visit, Dr. Hari Babu toured world-class manufacturing facilities and interacted with global fellows of the World Health Innovation Forum. He also witnessed the distribution of assistive devices to Divyangjans. Consequently, he described AMTZ as a “true symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat and industrial excellence.”

The Governor recalled AMTZ’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, he noted, “When nobody else came forward for Mizoram, the medical mobile van from MedTech Zone Visakhapatnam ventured to save lives.”

He lauded AMTZ as a nurturing ground for startups and a generator of employment. Additionally, he emphasized its role as a global healthcare hub. As a result, Visakhapatnam now stands at the forefront of India’s journey toward self-reliance. He added that the MedTech Zone is not only a flagbearer of India’s MedTech sector but also a global leader.
