Google announced plans to invest $10 billion through Raiden InfoTech in Visakhapatnam. The company will build a 1-GW hyperscale data centre, boosting the city’s technology profile.

Jana Sena Party General Secretary Bolisetty Satyanarayana called the project “transformative” for the region. He estimated it could generate 1.88 lakh jobs and add Rs 10,500 crore annually to Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP.

Mr. Satyanarayana said the initiative will strengthen infrastructure and support MSMEs. It will also expand skill development programmes across the state, he added.

The Andhra Pradesh government announced a Rs 22,000 crore incentive package to secure the investment. The package includes land grants, tax exemptions, and subsidised power tariffs. The central government offered a 20-year tax holiday and GST credits to attract large-scale investments.

Experts expect the project to boost logistics, IT services, and real estate sectors locally. They also predict increased research collaborations and urban development across Visakhapatnam.

Students and professionals welcomed the announcement enthusiastically.
“Training and internships will equip young people with AI and cloud computing skills,” said Ramesh Kumar, a final-year computer science student.

Construction is set to begin later this year, with phased commissioning over the next five years. Officials say the project will cement Visakhapatnam as a major destination for global technology companies. They added it will drive long-term economic growth and create thousands of local jobs.
