EPDCL Unveils Poster for HackAP Hackathon in Visakhapatnam
The Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh (EPDCL) on Saturday unveiled the poster for the ‘HackAP Hackathon,’ scheduled to be held in November. The event aims to encourage start-ups to develop innovative solutions for the power sector.
EPDCL CMD Prithvi Tej Immadi said the hackathon is being organized jointly by the Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition (CoEET) and the Climate Collective Foundation, with the approval of the state government. He invited start-ups to participate and present smart, data-driven solutions to address real-world challenges in the power sector.
“The hackathon aims to identify modern technological solutions for Andhra Pradesh’s power distribution issues,” Mr. Immadi said. Selected start-ups will have the opportunity to showcase their solutions to senior officials from the state’s power sector. Winners may also implement pilot projects and full-scale solutions across three DISCOMs — APEPDCL, APCPDCL, and APSPDCL.
The hackathon will focus on four key problem areas. These include predictive maintenance using drones and AI to replace time-based repairs; detecting power theft and revenue leakages through smart meter data; predicting transformer failures using smart meter, outage, and load data; and identifying insulator faults in high-tension lines using thermal, optical, UV, or acoustic sensing methods.
Mr. Immadi highlighted that CoEET will serve as a collaborative platform for start-ups, while the Climate Collective Foundation, an international organization promoting sustainable technology, will participate as a partner.
Registrations for the hackathon are open until midnight on October 22 and can be completed via https://electronvibe.com/hackap-hackathon. The poster unveiling was attended by company directors D. Chandram, T. V. Suryaprakash, T. Vanaja, CGM D. Suman Kalyani, and other officials.
