Bhogapuram Airport to Put North Andhra on Global Aviation Map

Bhogapuram Greenfield Airport, developed to international standards, will showcase North Andhra’s culture, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu said on Tuesday. He called it a matter of national pride and a boost to regional infrastructure.

The Minister visited the airport with local leaders, including Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appalanaidu and Nellimarla MLA Lokam Nagamadhavi. He was joined by MarkFred Chairman Karrothu Bangarraju, Collector S. Rama Sundar Reddy, SP A.R. Damodar, and other officials. He inspected the terminal, runway, ATC tower, and other facilities. Officials briefed him on ongoing construction and future plans.

“The construction is progressing rapidly. The first validation flight is expected in December or January,” Mr. Rammohan Naidu said. He added that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will attend the ceremony. The airport now targets inauguration in June 2026, six months ahead of schedule.

The Minister announced plans to present development details of 500 reserved acres at the CII Summit in Visakhapatnam on November 15. The airport plans night parking to attract airlines such as Akasa, SpiceJet, and TrueJet.

Local leaders welcomed the project. “Bhogapuram airport will generate jobs and create opportunities for youth,” MLA Lokam Nagamadhavi said. Collector S. Rama Sundar Reddy noted that better connectivity will boost tourism and industry in North Andhra.

Mr. Rammohan Naidu also announced an Aviation University and skill development centres at Bhogapuram and Srikakulam. “These initiatives will directly benefit the local workforce,” he said.
