GVMC Commissioner urges cleanliness at Anna Canteens

GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg has ordered all Anna Canteens in Visakhapatnam to maintain high hygiene and cleanliness standards.

On Monday afternoon, he inspected the canteen near the Outpatient Gate of King George Hospital. Zonal Commissioner IV M. Mallayya Naidu joined him. The Commissioner reviewed the token system and asked the manager about daily footfall. The manager said the canteen serves around 650 breakfasts and 750 lunches.

The Commissioner observed cleanliness lapses during his inspection. He instructed the staff to clean the premises daily and to serve hot, reliable-quality meals.

He interacted with several diners, many of whom were on duty at the hospital. They told him they were satisfied with the food. He then instructed Assistant Medical Officer Dr. Krishnamraju to oversee the immediate cleaning of the canteen surroundings and return the area to the staff in proper condition. He reminded officials to strictly follow hygiene norms.

When he stepped outside, he saw vehicles parked in a disorderly way, blocking traffic and pedestrian movement. He directed Zonal Commissioner Mallayya Naidu to move the vehicles to the cellar floors of nearby commercial buildings and take steps to reduce congestion on the road.

UCD–APD Padmavati, Sanitary Inspector Srinivas, and other officials joined the inspection.
