Alluri Sitharama Raju District Shivers as Temperatures Plunge

Alluri Sitharama Raju district has been experiencing a significant drop in temperatures over the past five days, with many areas recording single-digit figures, indicating the onset of a cold spell. Early Tuesday, G. Madugula recorded a low of 7.4° Celsius, the lowest temperature in the state.

Officials from the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS) in Chintapalli reported that the Agency areas have seen a sharp decline in temperatures. Araku Valley recorded a low of 7.6° Celsius, while Munchingputtu and Dumbriguda each registered 8.7° Celsius. In Paderu, the district headquarters, temperatures fell to 9.8° Celsius on Tuesday, down from 10.9° Celsius on Monday.

Other mandals reported similarly chilly conditions. Hukumpeta recorded 10° Celsius, Chintapalli recorded 10.5° Celsius, and Pedabayalu recorded 10.9° Celsius. Ananthagiri saw temperatures at 11.6° Celsius, while Koyyuru was slightly warmer at 13.5° Celsius.

It is worth noting that G. Madugula had previously recorded a low of 6° Celsius on November 14, consistently making it the coldest spot in the district in recent days. Authorities have urged residents and farmers to take precautions during the early morning hours as the cold wave persists.
