GITAM to Host 13th LASA International Conference
GITAM Deemed to be University will host the 13th International Conference of the Laboratory Animal Scientists Association (LASA) on December 19 and 20, 2025. The theme of the event is “Preclinical Insights from Animal Studies on Drug Discovery and Translational Research.” The conference will bring together researchers and professionals from many countries.
LASA National President and CSIR-IGIB scientist Dr. Vijaya Pal Singh said the event will offer a forum to discuss new scientific methods and recent advances in drug discovery. He said LASA now has more than 1,300 life members and is the country’s largest organisation in laboratory animal science.
The programme will include sessions on animal health, welfare, ethics, and regulatory standards. It will also highlight new developments in experimental animal science. More than 600 delegates and 100 volunteers are expected to attend. Speakers from the United Kingdom, United States, Singapore, Italy and Thailand will join scientists from major Indian institutions such as ICMR, ICAR, CSIR, DBT, IISER and the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.
Three pre-conference workshops for young researchers will be held on December 18, 2025. Conference Chairman Prof. L. Srinivas said the workshops will give participants hands-on experience in current techniques.
Officials present at the announcement included LASA Vice-President and CCMB scientist Dr. J. Mahesh Kumar, Secretary Dr. R.K. Shakthi Devan, Conveners Dr. Nemani Hari Shankar and Dr. Nitin Yadav, and Organising Secretary Dr. G. Suhasin.
