NTPC Simhadri Aids Differently-Abled

State-owned National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Simhadri commemorated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday, December 3, by distributing essential assistive devices to children and individuals with disabilities. The recipients, selected from the NTPC township and nearby areas, were identified through a prior assessment camp.

The camp was conducted in August at the MPDO Office in Parawada to shortlist eligible recipients.

Under its CSR–Community Development initiative, NTPC Simhadri distributed certified mobility and aid devices supplied by AP MedTech Zone Ltd., Visakhapatnam. The items aim to improve mobility, accessibility, and quality of life for people with disabilities.

The distributed devices included specialised aids like AK prostheses, CP chairs, standing frames, and various supports such as hearing aids, wheelchairs, rollators, tripods, walking sticks, and different types of crutches (elbow and axillary). Officials confirmed that solar-powered tricycles are scheduled for delivery shortly.

Executive Director and Head of Project Sameer Sharma commended the beneficiaries’ resilience. He noted that while NTPC undertakes numerous development works, initiatives that directly uplift the most vulnerable offer “a unique sense of fulfilment and deeper satisfaction.”

The event underscored NTPC Simhadri’s strong commitment to inclusion and supporting independent and dignified living within its local communities.
