Minister Seeks Railway Subway and ROB Upgrades in Vizianagaram

State MSME and SERP Minister Kondapalli Srinivas met Visakhapatnam Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Lalit Bohra on Friday to review key railway-related infrastructure needs in Vizianagaram district.

The Minister advocated for the construction of a subway parallel to the Manapuram Road Overpass, emphasizing that villagers rely on that route to move cattle. He stated that the absence of a safe crossing has become a repeated problem for farmers. A dedicated subway would facilitate daily movement and improve safety.

He also examined the proposed drain system and the alignment of the upcoming Road Over Bridge at the Gajapatinagaram railway line. Concerns over water stagnation and routine traffic delays were raised, prompting a discussion on design changes and land requirements. Officials from both departments stressed the need for joint planning to avoid further complications.

DRM Lalit Bohra said the proposals would be placed before the Railway Board for technical and administrative review. A final call would be taken after detailed consultations with the Board.

The meeting underlined the need to speed up railway-linked civic works to improve rural access and respond to long-pending public demands in Vizianagaram district.
