AU Gets State’s First Gen-Z Post Office
Andhra University on Tuesday became the first institution in Andhra Pradesh to host a Gen-Z themed post office. The new facility provides students and researchers with access to upgraded, technology-enabled postal services on campus.
The post office was opened by Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G. P. Raja Sekhar in the presence of Visakhapatnam Region Postmaster General V. S. Jayasankar. The event started at 11 a.m. on the university grounds.
The facility is designed for younger users. It integrates digital support into regular postal services and features tech-enabled service counters, quicker parcel handling, and student-focused solutions that make communication and documentation easier.
Speaking at the inauguration, Prof. Raja Sekhar said the university was pleased to host the State’s first Gen-Z post office. He said the initiative supports AU’s efforts to improve student services. The new centre, he added, will help students working on theses, project submissions, and career-related paperwork. It will also assist research scholars who depend on timely correspondence for academic work.
Postmaster General Jayasankar said India Post is working to expand modern services across the region. He described the Gen-Z model as an important step toward making postal services more accessible to younger communities. He encouraged students to use the digital features and quicker service options available at the centre.
The post office is expected to serve several thousand people on campus and act as an important communication and logistics hub for Andhra University.
