NTPC Simhadri hosts Rural Sports Meet for govt school students

NTPC Simhadri hosted the Rural Sports Meet 2025 on Tuesday at ZP High School, Lankelapalem, as part of its ongoing community development efforts. The event brought together over 500 students from 13 government schools across Parawada mandal in Anakapalli district and Islampeta in Visakhapatnam district.

The initiative, funded with Rs 9.23 lakh from NTPC’s CSR budget, was inaugurated by Executive Director and Head of Project Sameer Sharma. He hoisted the sports flag, lit the ceremonial lamp, and addressed the students, emphasizing how sports build confidence, discipline, and resilience. He encouraged students to balance physical activities with their academic work.

Students competed in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Throw Ball, and athletics. Physical education teachers and school staff coordinated the events to ensure fair play and smooth execution. The meet aimed to expose rural students to competitive sports while promoting fitness and teamwork.

Parents, teachers, and local residents attended the event, offering enthusiastic support to the participants. Outstanding performers were honored in a valedictory ceremony.

NTPC Simhadri underscored that this sports meet is part of its broader commitment to supporting neighboring communities. The company pledged to continue backing youth-focused initiatives that promote sports, education, and overall well-being.
