Vizag Navy Marathon scheduled for December 14
District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad on Tuesday said the 10th Vizag Navy Marathon, organised by the Eastern Naval Command as part of Navy Day celebrations, will be held on December 14.
Speaking after a review meeting, the Collector said around 17,500 participants from 17 countries have registered. Nearly 1,000 staff and 2,000 volunteers will be deployed to manage route logistics and event operations.
The event will feature four categories: 42 km, 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km. All races will begin at RK Beach and run along the city coastline.
The Collector directed district departments to coordinate closely with ENC to ensure smooth conduct of the marathon, with proper arrangements for parking, hydration points, and medical support.
Participants will be provided a T-shirt, a Navy-themed medal, breakfast, and other essentials. He said all facilities must be planned with participant comfort in mind.
ENC officials said the marathon seeks to encourage fitness, raise coastal awareness and draw wider public participation in Navy Day activities.
Captains T. R. S. Kumar and Vinoth Tiwari, Commander Kishore, Lieutenant Commanders P. M. Naidu and Naresh, GVMC official Ramana Murthy, APEPDCL representatives and others were present.
