Google data centre, IT firms to create major job opportunities in North Andhra

The establishment of a Google data centre, Cognizant and eight other IT companies in Visakhapatnam will generate large-scale employment opportunities for youth from the North Andhra districts, said Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) founder Mukti Kanta Mishra and Vice-President D.N. Rao on Sunday.

Speaking to The Coastal Times at the university’s Vizianagaram campus, Mr. Mishra said the proposed hyper-scale data centre by Google alone would create over 30,000 jobs. He lauded the Chandrababu Naidu-led government for facilitating Google’s proposed investment of around $15 billion to set up a 1 GW data centre in the port city.

Dr. Rao said CUTM would organise a mega skill conclave in the first week of February 2026 to create awareness among students, parents and academicians about the importance of acquiring new-age skills to enhance employability in companies such as Google, Cognizant and others.

He said the Vizianagaram campus has introduced courses in emerging areas such as blockchain technology, cyber security and artificial intelligence to prepare students for the requirements of industries coming up in Visakhapatnam and elsewhere.

Dr. Rao added that the university has so far facilitated employment for nearly 6,000 students who completed their education at its Vizianagaram, Bhubaneswar and other campuses.
