Speaker unveils healthcare projects at Narsipatnam hospital

Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu on Saturday said his objective was to develop the Narsipatnam Assembly constituency into a medical hub and ensure access to corporate-level healthcare for the underprivileged.

The Speaker, along with Anakapalli District Collector Vijay Krishnan and Deccan Fine Chemicals Executive Director K.V.L.P. Raju, laid the foundation stone for a Birth Waiting Hall at the NTR Government Hospital, Narsipatnam, to be built for Rs 2.10 crore. He also inaugurated a TIFFA scanning machine worth Rs 35 lakh.

Recalling that the hospital was established in 1985 during the tenure of former Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao, Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu said the facility caters to hundreds of patients. He noted that pregnant women from distant areas such as Tuni and Paderu prefer the hospital for deliveries because of the confidence it has earned.

The proposed Birth Waiting Hall, he said, would help reduce complications arising from last-minute arrivals. Pregnant women would be able to stay at the hospital two days before their expected delivery date under medical supervision. Free food, accommodation, and bedding would be provided for the mother and one attendant. He appreciated Deccan Fine Chemicals for extending ₹2.10 crore towards the project under its corporate social responsibility initiative, with support from the district administration.

Mr. Ayyanna Patrudu said NTPC had sanctioned Rs 72.5 lakh for the development of nine Primary Health Centres and Urban Primary Health Centres in the constituency. He said Narsipatnam hospital had received a TIFFA scanning machine from the government.
