Police Crack Down on Cockfights, Gambling in Anakapalli

Anakapalli district police intensified surveillance during the festival season and carried out raids in Achyutapuram and Parawada on Wednesday. The teams booked multiple cases related to cockfighting, gambling, and illegal liquor sales.

District SP Tuhin Sinha ordered the special drive. Parawada Sub-Division DSP V. Vishnu Swaroop supervised the operation. Police teams from Achyutapuram and Parawada stations conducted checks in their respective limits and detained several persons.

In Achyutapuram limits, SHO Chandrasekhar led the raids and registered four cases. Police arrested four persons in two cockfighting cases and seized four fighting roosters and Rs 2,950 in cash. In two gambling cases involving dice games, the teams caught two persons and recovered Rs 2,600.

In Parawada limits, SHO Mallikarjuna Rao’s team booked two cockfighting cases and detained four accused. The police seized four fighting roosters, four knives, and Rs 2,450 in cash. The team also booked one person for illegal liquor sale and seized five liquor bottles.

The SP warned of strict action against offenders during the festive period. He urged the public to stay away from cockfighting and gambling, officials said.
