APSRTC wins national award for digital bus station announcements
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has bagged a national award for successfully introducing an automatic announcement system at major bus stations across the State.
APSRTC Chief Engineer (IT) Y. Srinivasa Rao received the honour at the Governance Now – 6th Digital Transformation Summit and Awards held in New Delhi on Friday. Kailashnath Adhikar, Managing Director of Governance Now, presented the award.
Officials said APSRTC implemented the system to assist passengers from different regions and linguistic backgrounds who use bus stations daily. The automated announcements provide real-time updates on bus arrivals and departures, platform numbers, route details, and other essential travel information.
Now operational at key bus stations, the system has improved passenger convenience by ensuring uniform and audible announcements, helping reduce confusion and easing commuter movement within terminals.
APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao expressed happiness over the achievement and congratulated officers and staff involved in the initiative. He said the recognition reflects APSRTC’s focus on adopting digital solutions to enhance passenger services and drive continuous innovation.
