Registration Dept. revenue rises 7.74% in Visakhapatnam district till December

Vizag Sees Higher Land Registration Collections

The Registration Department in Visakhapatnam district has collected Rs 848.34 crore in revenue up to the end of December in the current financial year, marking a 7.74% rise compared to Rs 787.37 crore recorded during the same period last year.

Despite the increase, the department has achieved only 62.85% of the annual target, with the State government setting a revenue goal of Rs 1,349.80 crore for 2025-26 across the district’s nine Sub-Registrar offices.

Officials expressed optimism that land registrations would improve in the coming months, citing growing investment interest in the region. “Visakhapatnam is seeing steady traction due to proposed projects in IT, tourism, and infrastructure. This is likely to reflect in registrations too,” a senior official said.

They pointed to key developments such as the proposed Bhogapuram international airport, the planned Google data centre in Anandapuram mandal, and the Reliance and Sify data centres in Madhurawada as major drivers. “Once construction begins, demand for land parcels and plotted layouts is expected to rise,” the official added.

Real estate observers said the momentum is already visible on the ground. “Investors are tracking growth corridors, especially around Bhogapuram and the Bheemili belt, and registrations in new layouts have started picking up,” a property analyst noted.

Another market expert said a large share of transactions is currently at the agreement stage. “With repeated project announcements, intermediaries are paying advances and entering into purchase agreements with farmers. If these convert into final registrations, collections could rise sharply in the next phase,” the expert said.
