Vizianagaram to Emerge as Key Industrial Hub in North Andhra

Minister for MSME and NRI Affairs Kondapalli Srinivas said that Vizianagaram is set to witness rapid industrial growth in the coming months, with the Andhra Pradesh government recently clearing investment proposals worth around ₹10,000 crore.

Speaking to The Coastal Times, the Minister said the district is attracting major industrial interest, led by Super Smelters Limited, which is set to invest nearly ₹8,570 crore to establish a steel plant in Gurla mandal. He said such large-scale projects will act as a catalyst for allied industries and generate significant employment opportunities across the region.

Mr. Srinivas noted that the government is simultaneously encouraging a new generation of entrepreneurs to set up agro-based industries in Vizianagaram, leveraging the district’s agricultural potential and creating value-added business opportunities for local producers.

He said three Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Parks will be set up in the district shortly. “The government is keen to generate local employment with the support of MSME parks,” he said, adding that these parks would provide facilities and a supportive ecosystem for small and medium businesses to scale up.

The Minister also pointed out that the tourism and hospitality sectors will receive a boost with the upcoming international airport at Bhogapuram. He said improved connectivity is expected to attract investments not only in industry, but also in services such as hotels, restaurants, and travel-related enterprises.

Assuring full support to investors, Mr. Srinivas said the government will ensure the timely development of essential infrastructure such as internal roads, electricity connections, and dedicated water supply. He added that the State is committed to providing all necessary facilitation to ensure the speedy establishment of industries and to position Vizianagaram as a key industrial hub in North Andhra.
