Security tightened for Ratha Saptami at Arasavalli temple
The district police have stepped up security for the Ratha Saptami celebrations at the Sri Surya Narayana Swamy Temple in Arasavalli, Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheshwar Reddy said.
As a heavy inflow of pilgrims is expected from Saturday night, the SP asked officers and staff to stay alert. He told them to work in close coordination. This, he said, will help ensure a hassle-free darshan. He also directed teams to regulate both crowd movement and traffic flow.
Earlier, Mr. Reddy held a review meeting with personnel deployed for bandobast. During the meeting, he explained security and crowd control measures in detail. He used a geographical layout to brief staff on temple surroundings, approach roads, parking zones, prasadam counters, and queue lines. In addition, he pointed out the footwear deposit areas, VIP routes, and the special control room. He asked personnel to understand their assigned areas clearly.
He said devotees visit the shrine with deep faith. Therefore, staff must respect their sentiments. They should manage queues in a systematic manner. This will ensure a peaceful darshan.
Meanwhile, police advised devotees to park two-wheelers, autos, cars, and buses only in designated places. Authorities have also arranged separate darshan routes for donors and special ticket holders.
Further, the SP asked officials to stay vigilant at all times. They should implement contingency steps if crowds increase. A special control room will share information with devotees. It will also monitor the overall arrangements.
The SP stressed polite behaviour towards devotees. At the same time, he warned against overcrowding and disorder. He directed officers to provide accommodation, food, medical aid, and drinking water for personnel on duty. He also told them to respond quickly during emergencies.
Finally, Mr. Reddy urged all teams to carry out the bandobast efficiently and uphold the district police’s reputation. Additional SPs, DSPs, and other officials attended the meeting.
