Youth urged to lead society on right path, says Collector

District Collector A. Shyam Prasad has underlined the crucial role of youth in steering society towards the right path during the International Youth Day celebrations held at Sri Venkateswara Degree College, Kothavalasa. The event was jointly organised by the Lions Club, NCC, AIDS Control, and the college management.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the Collector lauded the students for their commendable academic performance. He urged them to further enhance their discipline, academic standards, and skills. Cautioning the youth against the perils of luxury and substance abuse, he called upon them to become ambassadors in making the district drug-free. He also invoked the inspiring legacies of social reformers such as Swami Vivekananda and Alluri Seetharama Raju as examples for the students to emulate.

Shyam Prasad assured that strict measures are being enforced to curb the use of intoxicants like drugs, ganja, and liquor in the district. He appealed to the youth to actively participate in efforts to combat drug abuse and the spread of AIDS. The event concluded with the unveiling of AIDS control posters by the Collector and other dignitaries.

The programme was attended by District Medical and Health Officer Dr. S. Bhaskara Rao, District AIDS Control Officer Dr. M. Vinod Kumar, College Principal Dr. Chalapathi Rao, representatives of the Lions Club and AIDS CPM Shailaja, along with faculty members, officials, and students.
