APEPDCL wins Rs 27.76 crore solar incentive from the centre
The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) has secured a Rs 27.76 crore incentive from the Centre. The award recognises its progress in installing grid-connected rooftop solar plants during 2024–25 under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Chairman and Managing Director Prudhvi Tej Immadi said the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy granted the incentive. He explained that the ministry acknowledged APEPDCL’s performance in expanding rooftop solar adoption among domestic consumers.
According to MNRE, incentives exceeding ₹1,422 crore were released to 14 power distribution companies nationwide. APEPDCL emerged as one of the key beneficiaries. Other recipients include MSEDCL (Maharashtra); PGVCL, UGVCL, DGVCL, and MGVCL (Gujarat); Tata Power-Delhi; TPL-Ahmedabad; TPL-Surat; BSES Yamuna Power Limited; Kerala State Electricity Board; TGNPDCL; JVVNL-Jaipur; and Noida Power Company Limited.
Mr. Immadi said the incentive reflects strong growth in rooftop solar installations within the utility’s jurisdiction. “So far, we have installed rooftop solar plants with a cumulative capacity of 148.7 MW for 46,603 household consumers,” he said.
He added that the funds will support further renewable energy expansion in the State. They will also help improve access to quality and affordable electricity. In addition, APEPDCL plans to intensify awareness campaigns to encourage more households to adopt rooftop solar systems.
Describing the achievement as a matter of pride, Mr. Immadi said APEPDCL staff continue to accelerate rooftop solar expansion. At the same time, they are ensuring transparent and consumer-friendly services.
He thanked the Central and State governments, public representatives, officials, MNRE, NREDCAP authorities, and consumers for their support in achieving the targets.
