800 Cycle for Fitness at RK Beach Under Fit India Sundays

Around 800 cyclists and fitness enthusiasts participated in the 63rd edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle, at the RK Beach. Children rode alongside parents, while senior citizens pedalled with determination, reflecting the initiative’s inclusivity.

Organised weekly by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India and partners such as the Cycling Federation of India, Mallakhamb Association, Kudo Association, NaMo Cycling Clubs,

Rope Skipping Club, My Bharat, and Yogasana Bharat, the event is part of a nationwide effort that now reaches over 25 lakh citizens across 2.5 lakh locations. Launched in December 2024 by Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the initiative continues to promote fitness and active lifestyles.

Olympian and Asian Games gold medallist Jinson Johnson, India’s national record holder in the 1500m, attended the event, underlining the significance of grassroots fitness programmes. “Programs like Sundays on Cycle build the foundation for sporting excellence, encouraging discipline, endurance, and active lifestyles from the grassroots upward,” he said, expressing confidence in India’s preparation for upcoming competitions, including the 2026 Asian Games.

The 5 km ride, which began and ended at the Kali Mandir in RK Beach, was followed by martial arts demonstrations and a Zumba cool-down session. The morning also saw the felicitation of Fit India influencers, community leaders, and local cycling clubs for their contributions, reinforcing the movement’s focus on both fitness and community engagement.

The event was graced by Animini Ravi Naidu, Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh; MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu); and Vishnu Sudhakaran, Regional Director of SAI NSSC, Bengaluru, thereby adding further prominence to the occasion.
