Capt. S. Divakar takes charge as DCIL MD & CEO

Capt. S. Divakar on Wednesday assumed charge as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Dredging Corporation of India (DCIL), marking a significant leadership transition for the public sector dredging major.

His appointment as Additional Director (Executive and Non-Independent) and Key Managerial Personnel was approved by the Board of Directors and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee. He will hold the position until the next general meeting, scheduled within three months, when shareholders will consider his appointment for a full term.

A seasoned maritime professional, Capt. Divakar brings nearly four decades of experience in the dredging and shipping sectors. He began his career with DCIL in 1987 as a cadet and spent over two decades at sea, gaining extensive operational exposure across diverse and challenging environments.

During his seven-year tenure as Master of Dredger, he commanded some of the corporation’s most advanced vessels and played a key role in executing major dredging assignments in India and abroad. His hands-on expertise in project execution, vessel management, and offshore operations is expected to strengthen DCIL’s core business capabilities.

Known for his deep understanding of the industry and strong leadership at sea, Capt. Divakar is expected to steer DCIL through a phase of operational expansion and strategic growth. The corporation, which plays a crucial role in maintaining navigable waterways and supporting port infrastructure, is looking to enhance its competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

Industry observers note that his elevation from within the organisation reflects continuity in leadership and a focus on leveraging in-house expertise to drive performance and efficiency.
