Collector Harendhira Prasad given warm farewell in Vizag
District Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad was accorded a warm and dignified farewell by district officials on Tuesday evening as he concluded his nearly 20-month tenure in the district.
At a farewell function held at a city hotel, speakers described Mr. Harendhira Prasad as a people-centric and compassionate administrator who combined efficiency with a humane approach. They noted that his tenure was marked by transparency, meaningful administrative reforms, and the successful conduct of several national- and international-level programmes.
Officials observed that key sectors such as healthcare, education, and public welfare registered notable progress during his tenure. Initiatives such as medical camps for employees and the public, along with the strengthening of infrastructure in hospitals, schools, and hostels, were highlighted.
They also credited him with fostering a strong sense of coordination and team spirit among officials during major initiatives, including Yogandhra and the Partnership Summit.
Mr. Harendhira Prasad and his wife, Divya Prasad, were felicitated on the occasion. Vedic scholars from the Simhachalam temple offered blessings, and mementos were presented in recognition of his service.
In his address, Mr. Harendhira Prasad said he was leaving with a deep sense of gratitude and a lasting bond with the district and its people. He attributed the success of various initiatives to the collective efforts and unwavering support of officials at all levels, and reiterated his belief in collaborative governance over authority-driven administration.
He highlighted the smooth conduct of elections, effective revenue management, and land allocation for industrial development as key achievements of his tenure. Expressing confidence in the district’s future, he said Visakhapatnam is well-positioned for sustained growth in the coming years.
Joint Collector G. Vidhadhari, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, and VMRDA Commissioner Tej Bharat lauded his leadership, describing him as an inspiring officer known for clarity in decision-making and a balanced approach to governance.
Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G.P. Rajashekar said Mr. Harendhira Prasad’s guidance proved invaluable during challenging situations.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Divya Prasad expressed appreciation for the support extended by officials and the public, stating that it played a key role in enabling the Collector’s achievements.
The programme concluded with officials and representatives of various associations felicitating the Collector and his wife, marking an emotional yet graceful send-off.
