Infosys allotted 20 acres in Visakhapatnam for IT campus

The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 20 acres at Yendada Hill in Visakhapatnam to Infosys at a nominal cost of 99 paise per acre for establishing an IT/ITeS campus.

The allotment follows similar concessional land allocations extended earlier to Tata Consultancy Services and Cognizant for setting up their facilities in the city.

According to a Government Order issued on April 27, the land has been allotted under the State’s Land Incentive for Tech Hubs (LIFT) Policy 4.0 (2024–29). The project will also be eligible for incentives under the Andhra Pradesh IT & GCC Policy (4.0) 2024–29.

The proposed campus entails an investment of ₹750 crore and is expected to generate about 7,000 employment opportunities.

The government will facilitate the development of core infrastructure such as roads, power supply, water, and stormwater drainage through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation. An estimated ₹79 crore has been sanctioned for infrastructure development in the layout.

The Energy Department will ensure the supply of green power to the campus. Approvals related to land development, including rock cutting and blasting, will be expedited. The government will also examine the feasibility of providing connectivity to the nearest proposed metro corridor.

The Revenue Department and the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority have been directed to facilitate the transfer and development of additional land required for access roads and common infrastructure.

The project is proposed to be implemented in phases, with the first phase slated for completion by January 2029. The entire development is expected to be completed over a period of six years, with scope for extension based on progress.

The government said the initiative forms part of its efforts to strengthen Visakhapatnam as a major IT hub and attract large-scale investments to the region.
