Govt. to Distribute 21 Lakh Error-Free Pattadar Passbooks, Minister Assures Farmers
Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps, Anagani Satya Prasad, announced that 21 lakh thoroughly verified pattadar passbooks are ready for distribution, aiming to resolve land record issues for farmers. Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, he reassured that the new passbooks are error-free and ready for issuance.
The Minister criticized the previous government’s handling of passbook distribution, particularly the inclusion of the former Chief Minister’s photograph and errors from a rushed re-survey process. “Claims of ‘50 percent errors’ in the new passbooks are baseless,” he stated.
Highlighting the corrective steps taken, Satya Prasad pointed to 6,688 gram sabhas and 17,600 revenue meetings, which addressed over 4.64 lakh applications for corrections. Farmers were also given a four-month window to submit fresh applications, incorporated into the Live Webland database.
Passbooks are being re-verified at the Joint Collector’s office, and corrections will be made free of charge. Satya Prasad also clarified that while the passbook is crucial, it does not directly affect bank loan sanctioning, which is handled through the Webland loan charge module.
The government’s continued focus is on accurate land records and ensuring timely passbook distribution to farmers.
