Two held in robbery case, juvenile detained
Visakhapatnam City Police arrested two persons and detained a juvenile in connection with a robbery case reported under the limits of Duvvada police station.
The accused were identified as Gurram Manikanta alias Silk (18) and Turangi Durga Prasad alias Prasad (19), while a Child in Conflict with Law (CICL) was shifted to a juvenile home. Police recovered a Redmi Note 14 Pro mobile phone and ₹13,500 cash from the accused.
According to the police, the victim, Killo Parasuram, a labourer residing at Lankalapalem, was allegedly robbed near Kurmannapalem on May 22. The victim had reportedly stepped near bushes opposite a petrol bunk when three persons allegedly restrained him, assaulted him with wooden sticks, and snatched his mobile phone.
The accused allegedly used the victim’s PhonePe application by obtaining his password and transferred ₹20,000 from his account. They also allegedly took away a silver bracelet before fleeing.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
Special teams, formed under the supervision of ACP (Crimes) Bhavya Reddy and South Sub-Division Crime Inspector Kalluri Srinivasa Rao, arrested the accused near Duvvada Railway Station on Thursday.
Police said the accused were involved in several previous offences. Two wooden sticks allegedly used in the crime were seized. Efforts are underway to recover the remaining money allegedly withdrawn using the victim’s mobile phone, police added.
