Y. Balaji Kiran assumes additional charge as South Coast Railway CPRO
Y Balaji Kiran, a 2013-batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, has assumed additional charge as Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of South Coast Railway.
Mr. Balaji Kiran has been serving as Deputy General Manager-cum-Secretary to the General Manager of South Coast Railway since November 2025. During his career in Indian Railways, he has held several key positions, including Senior Divisional Operations Manager (Guntakal Division) and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Secunderabad and Hyderabad Divisions).
He holds a B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Sri Kalahasteeswara Institute of Technology, Srikalahasti; an MBA from Osmania University; and Master’s degrees in Political Science and Industrial Relations.
A native of Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Balaji Kiran has been associated with social welfare and youth development initiatives. He founded the NGO ‘Asaya’ in Naidupeta, through which he has actively engaged in community service.
Before joining the Civil Services, he worked as a software engineer in Singapore. He subsequently served as Director of Sri Chaitanya IAS Academy, New Delhi, where he mentored Civil Services aspirants.
Railway officials said his experience in railway administration and operations was expected to contribute to strengthening public outreach and media relations for South Coast Railway.
