Central Tribal University to hold first convocation in Visakhapatnam

The Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh will hold its first convocation on Tuesday in Visakhapatnam, marking a major milestone since it began academic operations in 2020.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Chancellor Madan Lal Meena and Vice-Chancellor T. Srinivasan said 373 students who completed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes between 2020 and 2025–26 will receive their degrees.

They said 13 students have been selected for gold medals for academic excellence. The President will present the medals.

The university, established in 2019 with its headquarters in Vizianagaram, began classes in 2020 and now functions with eight postgraduate and five undergraduate programmes across the Schools of Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Management.

Of the total graduates, 200 are from the School of Sciences, 82 from Humanities and Social Sciences, and 91 from Management.

Among the medal recipients, 11 are women, and two are men. They come from programmes including MSc Chemistry, Integrated MSc Chemistry, MSc Biotechnology, Master of Social Work, and MBA.

Chancellor Madan Lal Meena said the convocation marks an important milestone for students and called upon graduates to contribute to nation-building through knowledge, ethics, and social responsibility.

Vice-Chancellor T. Srinivasan said the university is focused on strengthening quality education, research, innovation, and skill development, with an emphasis on aligning courses with industry needs.

The convocation will be attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, State Education Minister Nara Lokesh, founding Vice-Chancellor T.V. Kattimani, and other dignitaries.

Officials said all arrangements have been completed and urged graduates and their parents to reach the venue on time.
