RK Beach Set for Facelift Ahead of Partnership Summit
Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg has directed officials to expedite beautification works along RK Beach Road ahead of the Partnership Summit, scheduled to be held in the city in November.
During an inspection of RK Beach Road and its surrounding areas in the East Zone on Monday, Mr. Garg said the summit is expected to attract investors, business leaders, and delegates from India and abroad. He stressed the need to keep the city’s landmark beachfront stretch clean, attractive, and visitor-friendly.
The Commissioner directed officials to repair damaged dustbins and install additional ones wherever required. He also instructed the engineering wing to repair footpaths and damaged median grills, complete repainting works, and install decorative lighting and additional streetlights at suitable locations.
He ordered the immediate removal of unauthorised roadside stalls and other encroachments, and instructed the city planning wing to clear footpaths of obstructions to ensure the smooth movement of pedestrians and tourists.
Reviewing horticulture works, Mr. Garg directed officials to fill gaps in the median plantations, replace dried plants with fresh saplings, level the soil, and improve the greenery along the stretch. He also instructed horticulture contract workers to report for duty by 7.30 a.m. every day to carry out watering and maintenance.
The Commissioner further directed the horticulture department to equip its vehicles with GPS tracking systems and monitor the quality of materials used for plantation works.
GVMC Chief Engineer P.V.V. Satyanarayana Raju, Chief City Planner A. Prabhakara Rao, Deputy Director of Horticulture Vasuki, Sanitary Inspector Govinda Rao, Horticulture Officer Venkata Ramana, and other officials accompanied the Commissioner during the inspection.
