Caste Certificate Error Corrected Within Hours
An error in the caste certificate of a mentally disabled woman was corrected within hours on Saturday following the intervention of District Collector S. Ramsunder Reddy.
According to officials, the Collector noticed Paluri Padma waiting outside his chamber at the Collectorate while on his way to office on Saturday morning. When he enquired about her grievance, Ms. Padma informed him that the caste certificate issued to her daughter, Paluri Bhagyashree, contained an incorrect date of birth and requested that it be corrected.
The Collector immediately contacted Nellimarla Tahsildar Srikanth and directed him to take the necessary action. Officials explained that since the certificate had already been issued, it first had to be revoked before a corrected one could be generated. They added that the revocation process had already been initiated.
Mr. Ramsunder Reddy assured the family that the required formalities would be completed after obtaining the Joint Collector’s approval and that the corrected certificate would be issued by the evening.
After the Joint Collector approved the revocation of the earlier certificate, the family submitted a fresh application. The Nellimarla Tahsildar’s office processed it on priority and issued the corrected caste certificate later the same day.
Ms. Padma thanked the Collector for personally hearing her grievance and ensuring its swift resolution. Officials said the prompt action reflected the district administration’s commitment to the timely redressal of public grievances.
