PM Modi to Inaugurate Bhogapuram Airport on August 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the final arrangements for the inaugural programme at a high-level meeting on Saturday, said the airport would be a major catalyst for the economic development of North Andhra.

Mr. Naidu said the project was conceived during the Telugu Desam Party government between 2014 and 2019 and was fast-tracked by the present NDA government. He described the airport as a key infrastructure project expected to drive the region’s future growth.

Drawing a comparison with the transformation witnessed after the establishment of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the Bhogapuram airport would promote tourism, attract industrial investment and spur economic activity across North Andhra.

He said the airport would play a significant role in the development of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region. Improved connectivity, along with ongoing investments in highways, ports and irrigation infrastructure, would create employment opportunities and strengthen livelihoods, he added.

Reviewing preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit, Mr. Naidu directed officials to ensure that the inauguration ceremony showcases Andhra Pradesh’s art, culture and heritage.

The review meeting was attended by Union minister K. Rammohan Naidu, ministers Nadendla Manohar, Satya Kumar Yadav, K. Atchannaidu and Vangalapudi Anitha, BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav, Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and other senior officials.
