APTF Presents Vision for Rushikonda Resort’s Development
The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Forum (APTF) today presented its ideas for developing Rushikonda Resort to Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh. APTF President, K. Vijay Mohan, and Secretary, M.V. Pavan Kartheek, handed over the proposal during the inauguration of Haritha Hotel in Visakhapatnam. MP M. Sribharat and Visakhapatnam Mayor Peela. Srinivasa Rao also attended the event.
The resort, located on a 10-acre site with views of the Bay of Bengal, has great potential to become a major landmark in Visakhapatnam and Andhra Pradesh. In their proposal, APTF suggested several ways to use the resort to boost tourism and the local economy. One key idea is to turn it into an International Consulates Hub.
This would include consulates for the USA, Singapore, and the UAE in separate blocks, with another block for the Tourism Department and Economic Development Board (EDB). This would serve the state’s large diaspora and attract international visitors and business people. With nearby states lacking a US Embassy, Visakhapatnam could become a key diplomatic center.
Other ideas included turning the resort into a Modern Circuit House, which could replace the current one and be managed by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC). APTF also suggested converting it into a Government Office or Camp Office, taking advantage of its secure and accessible location.
Another option was to develop the site into a Luxury Tourism Resort, making Visakhapatnam a high-end destination. Finally, APTF proposed creating an Event and Convention Centre to support business events like meetings, conferences, and exhibitions, boosting the city’s profile as a business hub.
APTF stressed that the International Consulates Hub would offer the most long-term benefits for tourism and economic growth. Speaking at the event, K. Vijay Mohan, President of APTF, said, “Rushikonda Resort can reshape the global image of Visakhapatnam. With the right focus, it will attract both tourists and international institutions that will help grow the state’s economy.”
M.V. Pavan Kartheek, Secretary of APTF, added, “Our suggestions align with the Government’s goal of promoting tourism and economic growth. We are confident that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Minister, Rushikonda Resort can become a top asset for Andhra Pradesh.”
