A.P. aims for 15% growth by 2047 under Swarna Andhra plan: CM
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the Swarna Andhra Pradesh-2047 plan was in tune with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Viksit Bharat vision, with reducing inequality at its core.
At the inaugural of the 4th District Collectors’ Conference at the Secretariat in Guntur, Mr. Naidu said the government was targeting a 15% growth rate by 2047. “It is not impossible, but it requires a clear vision and collective effort, especially from District Collectors, whose role is more crucial than anyone else’s,” he said.
Tracing India’s economic journey, he noted that the country was once dismissed for its “Hindu growth rate” of about 3.5%. The reforms of the 1990s, however, changed its course, with Andhra Pradesh among the early movers. “Bifurcation disrupted that progress and left the successor State in distress. As of today, A.P. has the lowest per capita income among southern States and continues to grapple with the fallout,” he said.
Mr. Naidu credited the TDP government with reviving momentum between 2014 and 2019. With the support of allies Jana Sena Party and BJP, he said, the State was put “back on track” after the difficult phase of 2019–24. He attributed much of that progress to the commitment of the Collectors.
The Chief Minister said planning was now being driven from the mandal to the district level, with Gross District Domestic Product as a key measure, alongside State-level indicators. “We are moving with a clear goal to catch up with other progressive States,” he said, pointing to steps such as delivering citizen services through WhatsApp and introducing sectoral policies to harness untapped potential.
He urged Collectors to go beyond routine administration and approach their work with a humane touch. “Satisfying people is the very purpose of government, especially when its strike rate was 94% in the 2024 elections — phenomenal to say the least,” he remarked.
Ministers Payyavula Keshav and Anagani Satya Prasad, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta were present.
