Aadhaar Card Updates Go Fully Online from November 1
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made updating Aadhaar cards easier than ever. Starting November 1, cardholders can update details such as name, address, date of birth, gender, and mobile number entirely online.
The new system aims to save time and reduce hassle. UIDAI stated that it wants to help citizens, especially those in rural and remote areas, avoid long travel and queues at Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
Fees for updates have also been revised. From October 1, demographic updates such as name or address cost Rs 75, while biometric updates, including fingerprints and iris scans, cost Rs 125.
Children aged 7 to 15 can now update their biometrics free of charge. However, the free online document update window, which ended on June 14, is no longer available. All updates will now carry a nominal fee.
UIDAI also reaffirmed its “One Aadhaar, One Person” policy and warned of strict action against anyone creating or using fake Aadhaar cards.
While demographic changes can be completed online, biometric updates will still require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Officials said the digital update system will simplify the Aadhaar process and make it more accessible for everyone. The move marks a major step toward a faster, safer, and more convenient digital India.
