AINU Launches Advanced Robotic Surgery Programme
The Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU) has launched an advanced robotic surgery programme, set to benefit patients requiring complex procedures such as prostate cancer surgery and kidney transplants.
The programme, inaugurated by MP M. Sribharat, aims to improve surgical precision and expand access to quality healthcare in the region. “The introduction of advanced robotic technology is a welcome step towards enhancing medical care in Visakhapatnam,” Sribharat said.
Dr G. Ravindra Varma, Senior Consultant Urologist, highlighted the benefits of robotic technology, including reduced pain and scarring, and quicker recovery times. “Robotic surgery for prostate cancer offers precise tumour removal, reduced blood loss, and faster recovery compared to conventional open surgery,” he added.
The programme will cater to patients requiring procedures such as pyeloplasty, ureteric reimplantation, and paediatric robotic urology. AINU CEO Sandeep Guduru emphasized the hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence and innovation.
