AMTZ Celebrates IBSC@8, Signs 72 Academic MoUs

Emphasising the importance of academic collaboration in advancing medical technology, AMTZ Managing Director and Founder CEO Jitendra Sharma said universities produce domain experts, while industry-led platforms help translate that expertise into practical healthcare solutions.

Sharma was speaking at the Industry–Academia Meet organised to mark eight years of the Innovation and Biomedical Skill Centre (IBSC) at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ).

Over the past eight years, IBSC has trained and certified more than 10,000 candidates, contributing to India’s growing biomedical and medical device workforce. The centre currently offers more than 65 specialised skill development programmes designed for students, faculty members, working professionals, and medical device manufacturers.

IBSC’s programmes are accredited by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, underscoring adherence to national quality standards.

During the event, IBSC expanded its academic outreach by signing Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 72 institutions. The centre already collaborates with more than 133 universities and institutions across the country.

According to AMTZ, the newly signed MoUs will support industrial training, industry-oriented courses, industrial visits, faculty development programmes, semester exchange opportunities, joint degree initiatives, and collaborative workshops and conferences. The partnerships aim to create a structured bridge between academia and the medical technology industry.

Officials noted that the initiative is expected to help address skill gaps in the MedTech sector while preparing a workforce capable of meeting evolving healthcare and innovation demands.
