AMTZ launches Innovation Passport to boost MedTech startups
Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), the country’s premier integrated medical device manufacturing park, has launched the Innovation Passport (i-Passport), a single-access gateway to accelerate India’s MedTech and healthcare startup ecosystem.
The i-Passport was unveiled by Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Prof. Ajay Kumar Sood, during his recent visit to AMTZ. It enables startups and innovators to access the country’s most advanced healthcare manufacturing and R&D facilities at the Visakhapatnam campus.
The initiative, aligned with Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, is designed to remove hurdles that slow down innovation. It offers end-to-end support — from design and prototyping to validation, testing, and manufacturing — in one location.
Through the i-Passport, startups can use plug-and-play facilities, testing centres, fabrication labs, and regulatory resources. The programme also connects them with partner incubators and industry networks, providing mentorship, collaborations, and funding opportunities.
So far, 75 incubators have joined the programme, linking more than 1,000 startups nationwide to AMTZ’s ecosystem. The target is to scale up to 200 incubators, opening wider access for entrepreneurs, researchers, and healthcare innovators.
“The Innovation Passport is not just about access to infrastructure — it’s about building a support system that cuts costs, reduces time to market, and helps Indian startups compete globally,” said Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder-CEO of AMTZ. “By integrating testing, validation, design, manufacturing, and networking under one roof, we are ensuring that innovation in India doesn’t just happen — it thrives.”
