Andhra Pradesh Advances Citizen-Centric Digital Governance
Andhra Pradesh is strengthening digital governance, said Bhaskar Katamneni, Principal Secretary, ITE&C Department. On the final day of the 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2025, he chaired a session that highlighted the state’s digital initiatives.
“GSWS and Real Time Governance departments have improved efficiency and sped up service delivery,” Mr. Katamneni said. He added, “Around 66 lakh pensions now reach beneficiaries directly, often within a single day.” He also highlighted the WhatsApp governance platform. “This allows citizens to access government services with ease,” he noted.
Outlining Vision 2025, he said, “Over 40 departments and 710 services are now available through a single WhatsApp interface in multiple languages.” The rollout took less than nine months. “The platform has enhanced transparency, speed, and convenience while reducing costs. It integrates blockchain-enabled certificates, Digilocker, and a robust technology stack. An AI-powered, multilingual, voice-enabled chatbot assists users.” So far, it has engaged over 40 lakh users and completed more than two crore service deliveries, maintaining 99.98% uptime.
Prakhar Jain, CEO of Real Time Governance, described the AI-enabled CCTV system. “It has grown from 14,770 cameras in 2017 to a smart policing network with 300 advanced cameras and 38 analytics tools,” he said. The system now includes over 1,000 face recognition cameras, more than 2,000 video analytics devices, 4,500 ANPR cameras, and a 13,000 km fiber optic network. “It connects 13 district viewing centres, a State RTG Centre, and a State Viewing Centre through a centralised C4i/ICCC platform,” he added.
Meanwhile, Babu A, Chief Commissioner of State Taxes, noted, “We have implemented reforms in policy, execution, system development, and change management.” Siva Prasadh, Director of GSWS, highlighted, “Grama Secretariats and Ward Secretariats are now delivering services faster and more efficiently.”
The session demonstrated Andhra Pradesh’s citizen-first approach. “Digital platforms and AI integration are transforming public service delivery across the state,” Mr. Katamneni concluded.
