Andhra Pradesh emerging as global growth hub, says Ram Mohan Naidu
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday said Andhra Pradesh is steadily evolving into a global growth hub under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Speaking at the Swarna Andhra Pradesh Conference organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry, he said consistent policy direction and long-term planning are beginning to show results across sectors.
Recalling Mr. Naidu’s earlier tenure, he said initiatives such as Vision 2020, once criticised, have now produced tangible outcomes. He noted that these efforts were supported during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The ongoing Swarna Andhra 2047 vision, he said, is being pursued with clarity and under favourable conditions.
The Minister said the Centre has extended support at a crucial phase, citing financial assistance for projects such as Polavaram and revival measures for the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Highlighting governance trends, he said the State is witnessing greater participation of young leaders. Under Nara Lokesh, the IT sector is contributing to economic growth, while younger MPs, including Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and Harish Balayogi, are active at the national level.
Emphasising infrastructure, he said, highways, ports, and airports remain central to development. Andhra Pradesh is also adopting a decentralised model, focusing on regional strengths from Srikakulam to Anantapur.
He said the State is advancing in emerging sectors such as drone technology while expanding aviation infrastructure, to ensure airport access within two hours for citizens. Port development along the coast is also progressing.
Referring to North Andhra, he said the region has shifted from low development indicators to gaining global attention. During visits to Davos, he observed increasing investor interest in Andhra Pradesh.
He said upcoming projects, including Bhogapuram Airport, Mulapeta Port, and investments from Google, are expected to drive further growth.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring stability during global uncertainties. The conference was attended by industry representatives and stakeholders from across the State.
