Andhra Pradesh Tourism to Adopt Mission LiFE and Launch Sustainable Initiatives

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is taking major steps to position the state as a global tourism destination. It has partnered with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to implement Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) across its tourism projects.

Under the guidance of Special Chief Secretary (Housing & Tourism) Ajay Jain and APTDC Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director K. Amrapali, the corporation is preparing a detailed action plan to roll out innovative tourism initiatives. These include heli-tourism, tent cities, and home stays, aimed at enhancing visitor experiences while promoting sustainable tourism practices.

In a move to support eco-friendly travel, APTDC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of EESL. The partnership will set up electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and battery swapping stations across major cities, highway corridors, and popular tourist destinations in Andhra Pradesh.

A BEE press release emphasized that Mission LiFE encourages 75 simple yet impactful actions, from adopting LED lighting and solar energy to using public transport, electric vehicles, and bicycles. By incorporating these measures into its tourism ecosystem, Andhra Pradesh aims to make travel more sustainable, cost-effective, and enjoyable for both residents and visitors.
