Andhra Pradesh Unveils Ambitious Quantum Technology Roadmap
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday unveiled an ambitious plan to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of quantum technologies, launching the world’s largest quantum skilling programme and delivering a vision-setting lecture on the subject.
The initiative is part of the State’s plan to develop the Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) as a global hub for quantum research, skilling, and innovation. The Capital Region Development Authority has allotted 50 acres for the Quantum Valley, with iconic buildings planned. The quantum park is expected to begin operations from a rented facility around the New Year, with collaborations with Larsen & Toubro, Tata Consultancy Services, and IBM.
The State will host an IBM Quantum System Two powered by a 156-qubit Heron processor, making it India’s most powerful quantum computer. TCS has committed to democratise access to quantum computing across 43 research centres in 17 States. The initiative aims to drive domestic production of critical quantum components and achieve annual exports of Rs 5,000 crore by 2030.
The skilling programme, implemented through a partnership led by WISER and Qubitech, has received 50,000 registrations, with 51% women participants. Mr. Naidu addressed students, outlining Andhra Pradesh’s vision to play a leading role in the global quantum revolution.
