Andhra University Eases Backlog Fees, Waives Tatkal Charges

Andhra University has introduced important changes aimed at reducing the financial burden on students. These reforms include cutting backlog exam fees and removing additional charges for urgent certificate requests.

With more than 190 affiliated degree colleges, many students have struggled to complete their degrees due to backlogs. Some students have backlogs in more than ten subjects. In the past, students had to pay Rs. 15,000 per subject for backlog exams, leading to fees of over Rs. 1 lakh for those with multiple backlogs. This high cost discouraged many students from attempting to clear their pending exams.

Now, the university has decided to allow students to clear all their backlogs in one go by paying a single, regular exam fee. Vice Chancellor Professor GP Rajasekhar confirmed that the exam schedule will be announced soon. He stressed that this reform will give many students the chance to complete their degrees.

In another move, the university has eliminated the Tatkal fee for students who need certificates urgently. Previously, students could get certificates quickly by paying an extra fee. Now, certificates will be processed within one day, without any additional cost.

Professor Rajasekhar assured that the Examination Department has already been instructed to implement these changes. The goal is to make essential services more affordable and accessible for students.
