Andhra University launches Career Planning and Development Centre
Andhra University has launched a Career Planning and Development Centre (CPDC) at its AU Hub campus to improve job readiness and promote entrepreneurship among students.
The center has been established as part of the university’s centenary initiatives, with a focus on future academic and industry needs. Officials said students will receive structured skill training from their first year of study.
The CPDC will help identify students’ interests and strengths at an early stage. Training will focus on industry-related skills, soft skills, and subject knowledge. Students with innovative ideas will receive mentoring support, along with financial and institutional assistance to help turn ideas into viable products.
The university plans to work with leading national and international organisations to deliver specialised training. Officials said memorandums of understanding have already been signed with several institutions.
Each academic department will appoint a faculty coordinator and a student coordinator to support the CPDC. These coordinators will assess students’ skill levels and share training requirements with the centre. Training programmes will be organised in phases based on this feedback.
In a major coordination effort, the university has brought several existing units under the CPDC. These include the Training and Placement Centre, the Siemens Centre of Excellence for skill development, the AU Hub for innovation, and other specialised laboratories. Earlier, these units functioned independently.
University officials said the unified structure will help streamline career-related activities and improve employment outcomes for students. The CPDC will be headed by a Dean, supported by four Associate Deans and two Placement Officers.
