Andhra University ranks 4th among State Public Universities in NIRF 2025

Andhra University (AU) has climbed to the 4th position nationally in the ‘State Public Universities’ (SPU) category in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, released on Thursday, with a score of 68.91. The university also secured 41st place in the overall rankings, making it the top university in Andhra Pradesh. Last year, AU was ranked 7th in the SPU category.

Other state universities ranked include Acharya Nagarjuna University at 24th (score 57.45) and Sri Venkateswara University at 47th (score 51.46). In the broader ‘University’ category, AU was placed 23rd, followed by Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation University at 26th and Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research at 70th. Acharya Nagarjuna University and GITAM, Visakhapatnam, were placed 84th and 88th, respectively.

AU Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.P. Raja Sekhar said, “This achievement reflects the collective effort of all stakeholders of the university.”

The NIRF rankings, released by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, assess public and private universities, colleges, and research institutions across India based on teaching, learning resources, research, graduation outcomes, outreach, and peer perception. IIT-Madras retained the top spot in the overall and engineering categories. The 2025 rankings cover 17 categories, including law, medical, pharmacy, architecture, agriculture, and skill universities.
